Fat Cat

Jolly little fat cat
See him out at play
See the evil eye he gives me
When I pass his way
Don’t be troubled fat cat
No need for dismay
I don’t need your copper
Or your girl today

Take it easy
That beast can’t stand the strain
You’ll soon be writhing
And screeching in pain
Fat upon fat
Covering your bod’s design
One wrong impulse
And you’re dying…

Kerouac and Falstaff
Got no claim on you
Plus to be a writer
Means less movement too
All your new bride’s cooking
Piling on your frame
Though you look repulsive
You never feel ashamed

Fat cat, you poor slob
You need help from above
Someone may love you
But love is not enough
Living in excess
Will get you in the end
One wrong impulse
And you’re dying…
